Meet the Founder
In the winter of 1987, Mo Regoreski sat in his living room watching the Olympics and had what his wife would later describe as "one of his ideas." He looked out the window at the hill below his property, looked back at the TV, and made a decision that would define the next four decades of his life.
Armed with a garden tractor, a borrowed rope, and what can only be described as unreasonable optimism, Mo carved the first run of what would become Tabor Run. The mountain opened that same winter to a crowd of eleven visitors, most of whom were family members who didn't entirely understand what was happening.
Today, Mo still runs every aspect of the operation. He grooms the trails (with an ATV and a rake attachment). He operates the lift (a rope attached to the winch on his Land Rover). He manages the lodge (12 seats, hot chocolate available). And he personally welcomes every single guest, because with an average of 9 guests per operating day, that's entirely feasible.

Our History
The Beginning
Mo Regoreski clears a hillside, hooks a rope to the winch on his old Land Rover, and opens for business. "Business" is a strong word. Eleven visitors show up that first season.
First Full Season
Tabor Run completes its first full operating season. Total visitors: 11. Mo considers this a success and keeps going.
Snowmaking Arrives
Mo installs snowmaking capabilities: a 200-foot garden hose connected to an outdoor spigot. Coverage is limited to wherever the wind blows the mist.
Terrain Park Opens
The Junkyard terrain park debuts, featuring two rails and a box Mo welded himself. They remain in service to this day.
Record Season
Tabor Run sets an all-time attendance record: 340 visitors. The parking lot overflows twice (it holds 14 cars).
Lodge Completed
The lodge opens its doors at the top of the mountain, right next to the parking lot. Skiers ride the rope tow back up after each run. It seats 12 and features Mo's wife's famous hot chocolate (recipe: Swiss Miss packet, hot water). Standing room available.
Infrastructure Upgrade
New winch installed on the Land Rover. The old one was perfectly fine. Mo just wanted a project.
Digital Revolution
Wi-Fi added to the lodge. Password: sk1tab0r. Download speeds described as "adequate for checking email."
Socially Distant Skiing
Tabor Run's natural social distancing (we've never had more than 4 people here at once) makes it the safest ski experience in New York.
Still Going Strong
37 years later, Tabor Run remains exactly what it's always been: a hill with approximately 300 feet of vertical (give or take 260), a Land Rover with a winch, a warm lodge at the top, and a guy named Mo who really loves skiing.

Notable Alumni
Tabor Run has probably produced many Olympic athletes. While we cannot independently verify any specific claims, the statistical probability across 37 years of operation suggests at least one former visitor has gone on to compete at an elite level.
